Check on your home anytime with Wyze app’s live stream. The innovative 3-axis design allows your WyzeCam to point in any direction.

My take: for Heston’s room, we wanted a baby monitor that wasn’t only a baby monitor. We wanted an indoor HD video camera but when we compared the cost of Arlo or Nest cameras to the Wyze Cam, it was the biggest no-brainer.  The Wyze Cam is $20!  And when you compare the quality and features, the Wyze Cam is simply the best deal out there.  The video clarity is great and you can record continuous video, speak through the camera, listen to audio and it even has motion tagging letting you know each time something moves in its view.  This camera is really great for the cost! Pair the Wyze Cam with a simple audio monitor by the crib (we purchased a Motorola audio monitor) and we have all the security we need for Heston.

Boppy Newborn Lounger

Pillow with recessed interior provides perfect place for baby to coo and kick in comfort and a safe place to set newborn down for hands-free moment.

My take: if you’re not able to get a baby bouncer, this is the next best thing. I was lucky to receive this as a gift and I had even been eyeing it before Heston arrived. I usually switch between the bouncer and Boppy, just so Heston is able to stretch around.  This is great if you’re cooking or doing something but want your baby near you, without having to carry him/her. It’s a great quick and portable option – even has a handle to carry!

Hatch Baby Rest

Night light, sound machine, and Time-to-Rise indicator in one modern device, designed to control and program conveniently from your phone. Simplify nighttime feedings and diaper changes with adjustable hues, brightness, and sound.

My take: when Heston eventually started sleeping in his crib, we knew we would need a sound machine to help soothe him at night and also provide enough noise for us to go about our night without worrying about waking him.  John researched into the Hatch Baby Rest and the reviews were great.  Hatch lets you choose from lots of sound options (including white noise) and also change the light colour and intensity – all easily with your phone! We use this every night and it’s been great! Great design also.

Halo Sleep Sack

The HALO® SleepSack® swaddle replaces loose blankets in the crib that can cover your baby’s face and interfere with breathing. In addition to helping your baby sleep safer, it helps him sleep better, too. And, it is the only 3-way adjustable swaddle that adjusts to your baby’s sleep style.  Swaddle arms in, hands-to-face, one or both arms out to ensure baby’s best sleep.

My take: Heston is too big to be swaddled. We were given recommendations for this particular brand and were fortunate to receive one as a gift (size 6 months) but we wanted to introduce the crib to Heston at 3 months, so we had purchased one in his size. The great thing about the sleep sack is you can swaddle them (have his arms wrapped in, or wrap around the body with open arms).  We already discovered he needed to have his arms free; so this sack was perfect.  It’s warm enough that we usually sleep him in one base layer under a full onesie, and then add the sleep sack.

Babymoov

An ergonomic head support that helps prevent flat head syndrome

My take: I would definitely recommend a pillow earlier on if possible. We sort of made the mistake and were not aware of flat head syndrome. We’re currently testing out to see if the pillow will make a difference or not but so far he hasn’t had any objection to it at all. I would still recommend turning your baby’s head side to side… but during the day if your baby is resting, this pillow is a great suggestion. We went with this brand as it had good reviews and was reasonably priced; we weren’t sure if Heston would even be comfortable using one so we didn’t want to spend a fortune.

At this point, I am having doubts. Maybe his head is shaped the way it is because my head is like that? Genetics? Maybe we waited too long and it’s too late to shape it? we will keep you posted.

BONUS

Helium balloon

https://www.partycity.com/ca/balloons-foil-latex

My take: this was done for fun. I had seen it online where you tie a helium filled balloon and watch them be distracted for a long time.  Sometimes he gets annoyed with the play gym and wants a change and I have something to do, so I tie it on his leg lightly and watch him kick around and watch the balloon move. It’s a fun distraction and really helps me get a break. I will be getting another balloon soon!
